SELECTED EXPERIENCE + WORK
Clarity in practice.
I’m Kate Kness, founder and Clarity Strategist at Clarity Forward.Across 20+ years, I’ve worked in business, nonprofit, church, school, creative, and technical environments. My experience spans IT and systems, operations, marketing and communications, brand and web strategy, customer and audience experience, and cross-functional execution. The through-line is simple: I step into complexity, see how the pieces connect, identify what isn’t working, and help turn it into a clearer way forward.
The Work Behind the Work
Strategy is only part of the story.
My work has crossed departments, industries, systems, and disciplines. I’m comfortable zooming out to understand the whole picture and zooming in far enough to figure out where something is actually breaking.

SYSTEMS + PROBLEM SOLVING
Sometimes the problem isn’t the thing everyone thinks is the problem.A lot of my work happens before the visible solution.I’ve spent years troubleshooting systems, uncovering process gaps, improving workflows, evaluating tools and vendors, migrating databases, coordinating implementations, and figuring out why something that should be simple has become unnecessarily complicated.
Database + systems
Led patient-database migrations, software implementations, infrastructure upgrades, and technology deployments across healthcare, dental, industrial, and small-business environments.Process + workflow
Identify gaps in handoffs, audience setup, tooling, communication flows, and project processes, then translate them into practical next steps.Technical leadership
Advanced from administrative support to field technician and client support, then to Help Desk Manager over a 14-year IT career, managing technicians, client accounts, escalations, priorities, and concurrent projects.Cross-functional execution
Coordinate leaders, internal teams, vendors, contractors, and specialists around complex work where no single person owns every piece.
NONPROFIT + EDUCATION
Complex organizations. Limited resources. Lots of people to serve.I’ve worked inside nonprofit, church, and school environments where priorities compete, teams overlap, budgets matter, and communication has to work for very different audiences. My school experience has included website and content architecture, family communications, mobile-app updates, promotional materials, and collaboration with school leadership. I rebuilt and optimized a K–8 website through FACTS, the school’s integrated database and website platform, while supporting current and prospective family communications across digital and print touchpoints.
